When I did a class with Lucy Culliton in winter of 2007, she asked us to bring things we loved. The class arrived with a great assortment of things: from tiny bunny ornaments to jewelry boxes. I reviewed my photo collection and discovered an affinity for merry go round horses.
This is the culmination of that week (and after). acrylic on canvas, mostly 60x60cm.
One horse survives in Jason Dunn’s lounge room. The Honfleur merry-go-round Brendan Nugent used to have it in his lounge room (maybe he still does?). I suspect that the large thick roll of canvas in my attic may indeed be more horses.
