Finally able to see the desk in my studio, after renovations in the bathroom, and then a month where I was away most weekends.
I’ve also begun culling stuff that has been hanging around setting intentions for me that I will never follow through on – I just trashed.
- about 50 kraft paper Woolworths bags – have maybe 20 already cut up and rolled, and kraft paper is plentiful and cheap, and I have a heap of good paper I’m just not getting through, because I’m choosing the kraft paper because it doesn’t matter. Well, nothing matters, but everything matters
- a wooden jigsaw puzzle base, an old draughts board, some random-sized cardboard
Anyway, that was just last night. it freed up about 4 feet of shelving on top of the shelves, and it looks way lighter.
This current series of collages is party based on this image which I saw at Ngununggala Gallery last weekend.
I talked about it in that post, but bottom line is I started putting down a fractured collage image and then putting a grid over it. Now I look back at the image I can notice more things I can do, but this is what I’ve been doing so far!
I have added collage images before (a clock, a world book encyclopedia image of a knight in armour) and after (the fruit bowl lifted from a magazine).
And a few more of the People with animal heads taking tea series (although these are just animals).
Mostly I’m having fun as I clear out my collage supplies. I’ve emptied an entire Ikea box 30x30x40 box of paper scraps between trashing and collaging and my junk journals.
