Enjambement

Cindy Tonkin - July 17, 2020

Enjambement is where a poet continues a line into the next line, for example in this e.e.cummings poem i love

i carry your heart with me (i carry it in my heart)
i am never without it (anywhere i go you go,my dear;and whatever is done by only me is your doing,my darling)

This is 11 small envelopes made from Nicola’s offcuts.
The letters on sticks were an addition (who cares how it’s conceived, the work made itself in the end).
I do love the look of the shadows of the letters under lights.
I have made these origami envelopes before, but this is the first time I’ve joined them together. The brain wave came lying in bed yesterday that I could surpass the top of the envelope (the size of the envelope is constrained by the length of the offcuts) and then everything else was just playing with the cricut to get it to work.
Now to make a container to keep this in.
Thinking this would be a nice gift to make someone with their name or happy birthday or something similar.

Small origami fold envelopes: note that i got the cricut to put in the needle holes, so assembling them was easy. And because the paper from Nicola’s offcuts is quite heavy i even cut down the pattern to also make them easy to fold. each letter is cut out of a black card (an old spiral book cover). Bless the cricut maker, it makes all of this so much easier. I’ve just belly banded the little envelopes with a contrasting colour (since i’d run out of the blue paper!).
