Whenever I visit Melbourne I pop in to the Ian Potter/NGV. I love the building, i love their permanent collection, I love their Joseph Brown Collection.
This time there was a video all about Joseph Brown himself; essentially a young man who was drawn to painting, but for economic reasons took a job. He was very successful, and never returned to painting, but he did sponsor artists and show their work and organise exhibitions and books showcasing works. And then he donated his collections to the NGV.
