I have been all week at context art 2016 in hazelbrook.
Taking classes worth Liz Powell who has a gift for the 3d book. The carousel book here is mostly done structurally (the hardest part).
The interesting thing was how simple images can have such great effect. This is essentially an altered book.
I took the images from a Little Golden Book: Scruffy the tugboat and his adventures down the river.
The illustrator, Tibor Gergely makes wonderful images. Tibor also illustrated “Daddies” which i turned into a tunnel book.
The alterations here consist of extending the images from the book with watercolor pencil so they fit the frame.
And of course re arranging them to for the 3d framework. Still a little work to go.
