I so liked the juxtapositions which came form this book that I made a whole acrylic painting series from them. And here is another flag book from more of my Tuscan photos.
I was experimenting with flag books at the time, early in my artists’ book making journey. The cover is an old photo album re-used, the rubbings are of a fabulous, now-disappeared drain at Frensham school (from an art summer school). It was also before I decided that i could not make a silk purse from a sow’s ear, and stopped using recycled papers, so the concertina spine is the back of an old acrylic work on paper.
Now in 2021 the glue is starting to detach from these images and the flags are falling apart. but it really does have that lovely flag opening crack, and it’s good to look at it now and then.
